Plato Racing Ltd – the company behind Cataclean Plato Racing – has entered administration.
Only 8 days after the newest team on the British Touring Car Championship grid achieved their first win and 1-2 simultaneously during race one at Knockhill, they have entered administration. This comes after struggles for performance from the outfit after round one at Donington Park, where Daniel Rowbottom won the inaugural “Race to Pole” which was introduced for the 2026 BTCC season.
Reports from motorsportweek.com suggest that Plato Racing have lost over £835,000 since the teams inception in July 2025, with the team now advertised for sale
On the 11th of August Cataclean have been reported to have applied to have administrators appointed on behalf of Plato Racing, with a meeting on August 12th regarding this and it being confirmed that Plato Racing Ltd have now officially entered administration on August 17th
A quote from Pantera Valuations “Project Speed” states a “unique opportunity to acquire the recently established British Touring Car Championship team, Cataclean Plato Racing, by order of the Joint Administrators of Plato Racing Limited.” with prospective buyers advised to register their interest by August 25th
Plato Racing are yet to comment on the matter but are expected to compete at Donington Park GP this coming weekend. This has the potential to be a full circle moment for the team, who secured their maiden “Race to Pole” win at the same venue in April.
Sad to see a new team struggling, hopefully they can find a buyer quickly. Worrying time for all involved
