Vertex Caterham Seven 310R Championship;
Qualifying took place on Saturday morning with Ryan Wilby taking pole position by 0.045s to William Harris with William Chadwick 0.104s from pole position!
Race one saw 3 DNFs including Chris Boom, Graham Finlayson and Blair McConachie. Wilby couldn’t find success in terms of a race win but could find himself on the podium in 3rd position with both the Williams ahead but with Harris taking the win by 0.063s to Chadwick! Peter Mott took the win in the Am class by a comfortable gap to Steven Lancaster.
Sunday saw race two and three take place, with Chadwick, Harris and Wilby filling the podium slots again with Chadwick pulling one back on Harris by taking the win, while Harris could only manage third, Wilby filled second only missing out on the win by 0.112s! Taking the Am class win was Steven Lancaster by around 5 seconds to yesterdays winner Peter Mott.
The final race of the weekend saw Wilby took his first win of the weekend making it 3 different winners from 3 different races in the 310R class! Chadwick and Harris sealed the podium with the trio of drivers completing the podium for every race of the weekend, taking turns on the top step while they were at it! The Am class was won by Steven Lancaster taking 2/3 wins in class over the weekend with Peter Mott coming in second, taking his only Class win in race one.

Fandrive Caterham Seven 270R Championship;
Qualifying on Saturday morning saw Craig Evans take pole position from Brian Thornton by 0.115s and Sebastian Tholet by 0.175s setting up an exciting set of races for the weekend!
Brian Thornton won race one from the front row taking the win from Craig Evans with a stunning photo finish with the win decided by only 0.049s! The top five all finished with 0.619s splitting each other, with the fastest lap being a 57.514 by #88 Luciano Caruso, who finished in P6 just over a second from race winner Thornton!
Sebastian Tholet won race two just pipping race one runner up Craig Evans by 0.116 seconds, only 0.001s more than the time gap for pole position! Scott Helme took third and wrapped up the podium by 1.567s with a photo finish with race one winner Thornton missing out on the podium by just 0.005s – in that time these things could have happened; a camera flash, sound travelled 1.7 meters and a honey bee could flap its wings, once!
Last time out for the 270Rs at Knockhill saw Brain Thornton return to the podium on the top step, winning by 0.562 to Luciano Caruso in second with the top five split by only 0.775s – part of that gap including a 0.06s gap between fourth Scott Helme and fifth placed Henry Speeks and 0.034s between fourth placed Helme and third placed Sebastian Tholet, resulting in a triple photo finish! There was a talking point in Charles Chapman being disqualified from the race for “causing a collision”

Bilstein Caterham Roadsport Championship;
Qualifying saw Richard Davies take pole position by 0.612s with a lap time of 58.105. Mitchell Fasanya came behind in second with around 0.090s between him and third placed Kyle Townsend with the top six all in within a second of each other!
Oliver Smith snatched the race win in race one by 0.816s to pole sitter Davies before a larger 5 second gap behind to third place finisher Fasanya, who started on the front row. Richard Davies also made history, setting a new race record – in Caterham Roadsport. With the time being a 58.673 – set on lap 20 out of 21, although the race was 20 minutes long.
Another race lap record was set in the second and final race of the weekend for the Caterham Roadsport series by Richard Davies who this time around was able to grab the win as well! Winning by 2.218s to second placed Oliver Smith with Kyle Townsend rounding off the podium. Matthew Fox was disqualified from the race after the car was found to not be road legal with the stewards report stating that “Tyre Tread depth below 1.6mm on the middle 3/4 of the tyre.”

Tim George grabbed pole position by 0.016s to second placed Peter Holland, with third placed Benjamin Price-Stone, with the top 13 cars all being within a second of pole, with car 13 being Irish-American racer Olan Murphy!
Holland took the win in a frantic race one by 1.424s to Price-Stone! Tim George managed to grab a new race lap record for the Caterham Academy cars at Knockhill with a time of 59.201s. Olan Murphy had a eventful race, stalling on the grid after misunderstanding the green flag procedure, dropping to P26 and climbing up to 12th throughout the race, still finishing higher than his original grid position
The second and final race of the weekend saw another Peter Holland win however this time by 0.411s to Tim George in second and Phil McGovern in second with a 0.920s gap to first, splitting the podium by less than a second! Tim George broke the previous lap record again but didn’t manage to beat his previous best, still setting a very impressive time of a 59.229 with a 0.028s gap between the times!
The Caterham festival was a very successful and exciting weekend of motorsport action, bringing close calls, stunning overtakes and new records to the circuit, along with the regular SMRC and KMSC action alongside. The next on track event at Knockhill – for cars – will be the weekend of the 12th and 13th of September, for the Scottish Championship Car Racing’s penultimate round!
