Round 14 got underway at Silverstone with huge drama, as race leader Smith in the #99 car locked up and went straight on at Brooklands on the first lap! The lock up dropped him down to P4 out of the smaller 14 car grid, leaving him almost the entire race to claw it back. Moore, the leader of the PA Class on lap 5, received a 5 second penalty for track limits, shortly after Carl Cavers had drama running into Brooklands, running wide before turning Archie Clark completely sideways through Luffield!
On lap 20, Jenkins in 2nd received a 5 second penalty for track limits, this came at a horrible time for the #30 car as he sat under a second off the race lead and with several cars right behind the Team Parker Racing Porsche! With 5 laps to go, there was plenty of movement in the midfield with particularly with Callum Voisin, who moved into championship winning position!
Although Jenkins had a 5 second penalty, it didn’t stop him from fighting for the win on the road, being part of the 3 car group fighting for the win ahead of the rest of the pack. With a lap to go Voisin’s team – Rosland Gold by Centaury Motorsport – franticly changed the pit boards onto the custom championship winning message for their driver. Sherwood would win his first Carrera Cup race while Voisin would cross the line to win the championship 2 rounds early as a rookie! A fantastic season, for a extremely talented driver!
