“Cataclean Plato Racing Limited” To Race At Donnington Park In Place Of The Collapsed Plato Racing
CPRL – Cataclean Plato Racing Limited – will replace the now former BTCC team Plato Racing for the foreseeable future
CPRL will change it’s identity massively from that of Plato Racing. Plato Racings white and purple has been traded out for a fully blacked out livery – although keeping the teams sponsors including partner and tech company ASUS – for this weekend at Donington Park GP. The race suits for the drivers will remain with the same design and sponsors, trading the unmistakable Plato purple for black. It has also been confirmed that Jason Plato now has no ties to CPRL, however both drivers Daniel Rowbottom and Adam Morgan will remain with the team for the foreseeable future, however it is unclear if Rowbottom has kept his role as a partial team owner of CPRL.
For fans heading to Donington Park this weekend, it’ll make for a unique and unforgettable experience, with the rise and fall of Plato Racing taking part at the same venue, only 4 months apart. Making Plato Racing one of if not the shortest lived team in British Touring Car History, with the gap between their first and last ever race being only 112 days. With the shortest lived team beforehand being Team Atomic Kitten lasting 175 days
CPRL head to Donington Park GP in fourth with only 11 points between them and West Surry Racing – also known as WSR – and 34 points ahead of LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing, with Laser Tools Racing and MB Motorsport only a handful of points behind PMR
It is incredibly upsetting to see something like this happen to one of the most beloved teams on the British Touring Car grid, with the collapse of Plato Racing coming suddenly and unexpectedly. It is safe to say the British Touring Car community have been left stunned, and absolutely devasted.
