Dries Van Langendonck has been banned from this weekend British F4 round at Donington Park GP after accumulating 12 penalty points in the last 12 months
Lagendonck took part in FP1 and FP2 on Friday before finding out about his ban on Friday night, ending his weekend early. He currently holds a 41 point lead over Lewis Weherrel with 75 points on offer this weekend, blowing the championship battle wide open! The Belgian will return to action at Croft Circuit on the 5th / 6th of September, starting the final run in to Brands Hatch GP on the 10th / 11th of October.
To replace the banned Belgian the Irish GB4 Championship leader Alex O’Grady, who will take the reigns of the Rodin Motorsport car. The 17-year-old has shown incredibly consistency so far this season leading the championship by 70 points to second placed Fred Green who will also race this weekend with Virtuosi Racing. O’Grady has the chance to possibly take a page out of Van Langendonck’s book and burst onto the British F4 scene just as the Belgian did a year ago, winning on his first race weekend in British F4.
On X users have expressed their opinions on the ban with one user labelling the ban “ridiculous” and expressing confusion on how Haarni Sadiq has entered negative points after receiving a handful on penalty points and “he’s not been banned” and another user describing the decision as “absolutely pathetic” with “decisions all season against Dries”
Van Langendonck and Hitech have not yet commented on the matter.
