The blockbuster Scottish Legends Championship heads to Croft this weekend to take part in the very popular “Battle of Britain” event! The legends have had a week break before travelling down south for the second time this season – after heading to Oulton Park to support the BTCC – to take part in this weekends events at Croft alongside the SMRC ran “Scottish Classic Sports & Saloons Championship / Historic Modsports & Special Saloons Series”
The weekend features the Darlington District Motor Club’s – DDMC – Northern Saloon & Sports Car Championship, and the Focus Cup Championship. There will also be the previously stated Scottish Classic Sports & Saloons Championship / Historic Modsports & Special Saloons Series ran by the Scottish Motor Racing Club along with the FRSA F2 British Sidecar Championship and the FSRA Pre-Injection British Sidecar Championship offering some 3 wheeled action around Croft!
The Scottish Legends Championship has a exciting title fight taking place between four primary drivers, including;
- Matthew Pape #24
- Ben Mason #1
- Michael Weddell #77
- Mark Beaty #85
- Daniel Clark #14
The title fight has been brilliant so far as Matthew Pape #24 looks for his first ever Scottish Legends title after over a decade in the series. Ben Mason #1 on the other hand is looking for possibly his fifth title, after winning his fourth in 2025! Michael Weddell #77 serves as almost the wildcard of the series, jumping over in 2023 after becoming a back to back Scottish Minis champion in 2022 after winning the title in 2021, all with the help of Minimax Motorsport. Daniel Clark #14 is a national legends champion in the Legends Elite Cup, he now races in the Scottish Legends running a team with his wife – Elby Clark #15 – who also races in the championship, all under the Clark Motorsport banner! Finally Mark Beaty #85 is your dark horse, Beaty is a very quick driver, but you don’t notice him until he’s in your mirrors and taking the top step of the podium yet again!
The way the Scottish Legends work means that grids are drawn by ball for race 1, with this grid reversed for race 2 and the final grid – for race 3 – is decided using the days results with the best drivers put at the back of the grid, meaning the championship is highly competitive with the faster drivers having to fight their way through the grid and resulting in a number of different winners! The legends race 6 times over the weekend – 3 times on both days – with world class racing and action up and down the field! Make sure you don’t miss them this weekend at Croft if you are headed to The Battle of Britain.
