In an exciting day for Scottish motorsport, it’s been announced that on the 7th-8th of August 2027 during the British Touring Car Championship’s annual visit to Knockhill it will be supported by the ever growing Scottish Mini Cooper Cup, as part of it’s 7 round calendar, announced today by the SMRC.
It comes 15 years after the last time the Scottish Mini’s appeared on a BTCC package, back when the series was under the “Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup” banner when it appeared at Croft in June of 2012. The Scottish Mini’s would bring grids of 25 cars down to the Yorkshire circuit and delivered some amazing door-to-door action in the two races held. Race one saw 25 cars start the race and only 19 finish, with Carl Bradley winning the non-televised race while George Orr won the newcomers class. The televised race two saw newcomer to the series Malcom McNab win his first ever race in the Scottish Mini’s from the front row taking the newcomers win in the process.
The announcement comes on the same day as the SMRC’s 2026 calendar announcement; with the SMRC unveiling an exciting calendar for 2027, including visits to circuits like Anglesey and Oulton Park for the Scottish Minis. A Northern Irish voyage for the Scottish C1s and Fiestas as they head to Kirkstown. While the Scottish Classics and Historic Modsports start their season at Croft and a summers trip to Brands Hatch GP before finding themselves at the iconic Gold Cup at Oulton Park to wrap up their season – with the Scottish Classics still left with a round to go at Knockhill in October.
