Another frantic weekend of the Scottish C1 cup results in the title fight including 3 drivers spread by 21 points heading into the season finale in October!
Ayden Wilson saw massive trouble amongst poor luck throughout the weekend at Knockhill, ultimately resulting in losing the championship lead. A DNS from race 3 with a mechanical issue, being wheeled off the grid after the lunch time grid walk – even though the Scotsman managed to secure pole by almost 3 tenths of a second on the anti-clockwise layout – was the worst of Wilson’s struggles.
In the meantime, Nisbet had a largely successful weekend taking second in qualifying before winning both races 1 and 2 before losing out in race 3 rounding off the weekend in second place, taking the spoils from his championship rivals Wilson and Gregor McPhaden – who now sits 21 points back from the charging Nisbet.
McCracken had a cracker of a weekend in the #77 car taking P5 in qualifying, the same again in race 1 and then 4th in race 2. Race 3 saw a reverse grid draw and McCracken in 4th with Ayden Wilson alongside in 3rd – who would have to pull out due to the previously mentioned DNS. McCracken managed to find his way to the front and led from Nisbet to take his first ever C1 Cup win!
Finally Gregor McPhaden failed to capitalize on Wilson’s misfortunes over the weekend, losing out to Nisbet in every session, coming P2 in race 1 and 2 and P3 in race 3 while Nisbet won races 1 and 2 and slotted in behind McCracken in race three. McPhaden sits 21 points off the back of Nisbet heading into the final round and has a major challenge ahead of him if he wishes to take home the 2026 Scottish C1 Cup title!
Meanwhile in the newcomers cup Scott Charles has effectively won the title! After Peter Edie suffered a massive “540 degree flip” totalling his mini and effectively ending his newcomers cup fight.
The season finale will take place on the 10th – 11th of October, it is bound to be an exciting one with several titles to be decided at Knockhill!
